Press Release: Arrest Made in Connection with Weekend Stabbings in Denver
Denver, CO – The Denver Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect linked to a series of stabbings that occurred over the weekend, resulting in two fatalities and two injuries. The incidents took place near the 16th Street Mall, culminating in a tragic pattern of violence that has left the community in shock.
The first three stabbings transpired on Saturday evening, with the first reported around 5:12 p.m. near 16th and Tremont streets. A victim injured in this incident was treated and released from the hospital. Shortly after, at 5:17 p.m., a woman was fatally stabbed near 16th and California streets. This victim, identified as Celinda Levno, a flight attendant from Phoenix, was pronounced dead on Sunday morning. The final stabbing on Saturday occurred at 5:54 p.m. near 16th and Lawrence streets, leaving another victim with non-life-threatening injuries.
On Sunday, around 8 p.m., yet another stabbing resulted in a man’s death in the 1600-block of Market Street. Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas reported that investigators connected the incidents through video evidence and suspect descriptions but emphasized that there appeared to be no known relationship between the suspect and the victims. As of now, the police have not determined a motive for the attacks.
In response to the violence, the Associated Professional Flight Attendants expressed their condolences for Levno’s death, describing it as a "senseless tragedy." The organization will also temporarily relocate flight crews who lay over in downtown Denver due to safety concerns.
The police continue their investigation and urge anyone with information to come forward as the situation develops.
