A Crisp and Clear Wednesday Morning in the Denver Metro Area

Denver Braces for Deep Freeze and Snow Ahead

DENVER — The Front Range experienced a bone-chilling morning Wednesday, with temperatures plunging into the single digits and low teens. Wind chills felt as frigid as 5 to 15 degrees below zero, prompting residents to bundle up. A Dense Fog Advisory was also in effect until 10 a.m. for parts of northeastern Colorado, particularly along the South Platte River Valley.

Fortunately, skies are expected to clear later in the day, providing ample sunshine and allowing temperatures to rise into the upper 30s to low 40s by 2 p.m. However, the winter weather isn’t over yet, as a series of storms are forecasted to sweep across the state through the weekend. Early Thursday morning, Denver could see 1 to 2 inches of fresh snow, creating potentially slick conditions for commuters. In the mountains, snow accumulation might reach 3 to 6 inches.

After the storm passes on Thursday afternoon, gusty winds will follow, making for a blustery yet sunny end to the week with high temperatures also reaching the upper 30s on Friday. As the weekend approaches, clouds will begin to increase, and another round of light snow is possible on Saturday afternoon and evening. This second storm is expected to move out by late Saturday, leading to a cool but dry conclusion to the weekend.

As January continues, below-average temperatures are anticipated to linger into the following week, keeping Denver in a firm grasp of winter’s chill. Residents are urged to stay updated for changing weather conditions as the season progresses.
