Grant Funding Enables Colorado Town to Revitalize Community Spaces and Construct Skate Park

Grant Funding Spurs Buchanan Park Beautification in Evergreen

Evergreen, CO – A new grant funding initiative is propelling plans to enhance Buchanan Park, signaling positive developments for local residents eager to see improvements, including the addition of a skate park. Community member Matt Buzas expressed optimism about the project’s progress, stating, "We’re really encouraged right now."

The Evergreen Parks and Recreation department, led by Liz Cohen, has announced they have successfully secured $360,000 in grants dedicated to the park’s transformation. The funding will support various upgrades, including a pavilion, an adventure playground, and the much-anticipated skate park. Cohen noted that this financial boost is a crucial first step toward making the community’s vision a reality.

Highlighting the project’s momentum, Cohen explained, "I think we’re ahead of schedule in our grant fundraising and we’re super pleased with how the board is supporting it." The engagement of the community, as emphasized by Buzas, has been pivotal. Over the past 18 months, he and other advocates have raised awareness through local events, actively seeking public input and collaborating with local experts.

"This effort has involved selling hot chocolate and root beer floats, but ultimately it’s about building trust and visibility," Buzas remarked. Cohen acknowledged the effectiveness of this community-driven strategy, suggesting that it has become a model for other groups working on similar improvements at Buchanan Park.

As excitement builds and community support grows, residents of Evergreen remain hopeful that the beautification of Buchanan Park will soon come to fruition, marking a significant milestone for the town.
