Travis Hunter Celebrates Heisman Trophy Win with Excited Fans at CU Boulder
BOULDER, Colo. — Buffs fans eagerly lined up outside the CU Events Center on Saturday morning, buzzing with excitement to see the Heisman Trophy awarded to Colorado junior Travis Hunter, marking a historic achievement for the program. Hunter, a dual-threat player excelling as a cornerback and wide receiver, is only the second Colorado player to win this prestigious award, following Rashaan Salaam’s victory in 1994.
Anticipation ran high as fans began gathering more than an hour before doors opened, eager for the chance to snap a photo with the trophy. “This is it, man. Travis Hunter just sent CU off the charts,” exclaimed longtime fan Buffalo Phil, while others shared their enthusiasm: “It’s going to be so cool,” added fan Keagan Taylor.
Hunter’s accolades extend beyond the Heisman; he was also recently named the AP College Football Player of the Year and the Walter Camp Player of the Year, in addition to winning the Fred Biletnikoff Award for the top wide receiver and the Chuck Bednarik Award for the leading defensive player. His impressive season builds up to the Buffs’ participation in the upcoming Alamo Bowl, their third bowl game appearance in the last 17 years.
As an added treat for fans, Hunter and teammate Shedeur Sanders showcased their athletic skills by taking some shots on the basketball court before the CU Boulder Men’s Basketball game against the Bellarmine Knights. Fans of all ages, including 100-year-old superfan Miss Peggy, gathered to celebrate Hunter’s achievements and support the Colorado football team ahead of their matchup against BYU at the Alamo Bowl on December 28. The game will be broadcast on Denver7 at 5:30 p.m. MT.
