Colorado Senate legislators receive committee assignments for the year 2025.

Senate leaders announced committee assignments for the 2025 session starting on January 8, with 10 committees in place. Majority Leader Robert Rodriguez and Minority Leader Paul Lundeen revealed that six of the committees will have a narrow one-seat majority. Democrats maintained 23 seats, while Republicans held onto 12. Notably, Sen. Sonya Jaquez Lewis was stripped of all committee assignments due to allegations of mistreating aides, and other senators resigned their seats, leaving openings for replacements. Sen. Faith Winter, who was previously removed as the Senate Transportation & Energy Committee chair for showing up intoxicated, has been reinstated. Additionally, Sen. Dafna Michaelson Jenet will serve as President Pro Tempore during the sessions.

The committee assignments cover areas such as Agriculture & Natural Resources, Appropriations, Business Labor & Technology, Education, Finance, Health & Human Services, Judiciary, Local Government & Housing, State Veterans & Military Affairs, and Transportation & Energy, each with a varying number of members and party representation. Sen. Judy Amabile, Sen. Jessie Danielson, Sen. Chris Kolker, Sen. Julie Gonzales, Sen. Dylan Roberts, and Sen. Kyle Mullica are among the senators leading different committees.

The upcoming session promises to be eventful with a mix of experienced and newer senators taking on leadership roles in pivotal committees, determining the direction of legislative decisions for the state of Colorado.
