Christmas Closures in the Metro Denver Area | Denver Metro News

Holiday Closures Scheduled for Christmas

As the festive season unfolds, numerous city, county, and state offices will close their doors on Wednesday, December 25th, in observance of Christmas, a federal holiday. This closure extends to all court systems within the region, making Wednesday a day for resting and celebrating.

Despite the holiday, essential services will continue to function. For example, emergency services and Denver International Airport will remain operational around the clock. However, for those eagerly anticipating last-minute gift deliveries, it’s important to note that mail services will be paused during this time.

In the Denver area, government buildings across Denver, Adams, Jefferson, and Douglas counties will close on Christmas Day, reopening the following day, Thursday. Notably, libraries in Denver will also observe the holiday. Additionally, Arapahoe County offices will close early on Christmas Eve, while Douglas County offices will operate with limited hours on Tuesday.

Patrons looking to navigate the city should keep in mind that street parking will be complimentary on Wednesday, resuming normal rates the following day. Public transportation in Denver, provided by the Regional Transportation District, will operate on a holiday schedule.

While most state and county parks, campgrounds, and boating facilities will stay open through the holiday, a few notable sites, including the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge and Colorado National Monument, will close their gates on Christmas Day. Additionally, Boulder Reservoir will not be accessible on Christmas Eve and Christmas.

Residents are encouraged to check specific business hours before venturing out, as many restaurants and stores will have altered schedules. The holiday season is upon us, and local agencies urge the community to plan accordingly.
