Press Release: Aurora Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Crash

Aurora, CO – The Aurora Police Department is currently investigating a tragic accident that occurred on Thursday evening, claiming the life of a pedestrian. Officers were dispatched to the scene on South Chambers Road, just south of Iliff Avenue, at around 10 p.m.

According to initial reports, a man was crossing South Chambers Road when he was struck by a sedan. Emergency responders transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the sedan remained at the scene and has been cooperative with law enforcement throughout the investigation. At this time, the driver has not been arrested, and no charges have been filed as inquiries continue.

The identity of the deceased pedestrian will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office following further investigations.

This incident is part of a concerning trend, as data from the Colorado Department of Transportation show a significant number of fatal pedestrian accidents. Between January 1 and December 18, there have been 100 fatal pedestrian crashes reported in the state, a decrease from 122 fatalities during the same period last year.

The Aurora Police Department urges drivers to remain vigilant and exercise caution while driving, especially in areas frequented by pedestrians. Authorities will provide updates on the investigation as more information becomes available.

For further inquiries, members of the public can contact the Aurora Police Department.
