Denver7 Raises $26,000 to Support Colorado Children Through Donations

Lakewood, Colo. – Denver7 and Les Schwab Spread Holiday Cheer with Successful Toy Drive

The holiday spirit in Colorado soared this year as Denver7 teamed up with Les Schwab to launch a remarkable toy drive, raising an impressive $26,000. With these generous contributions, they collected approximately 6,000 toys, ensuring that many children in need experience the joy of Christmas this season.

In a collaborative effort, the Denver7 morning team and Les Schwab store managers dedicated three hours at a Walmart in Lakewood the week before Christmas, selecting a wide array of toys including bikes, board games, toy trucks, headphones, and tablets for older kids.

"We truly want to reach out and have an impact on children that would otherwise not receive a Christmas due to their situation," stated Jimmy Samdal from Les Schwab. The volunteers faced an overwhelming task; despite filling around 20 carts with toys, they realized there was still more to be done. Nick Huffman from Les Schwab noted, “Completely jammed packed, bunch of bikes, electronics, and we didn’t even touch halfway."

A second shopping round ensured that all donations were utilized effectively. Volunteers of America began distributing the toys soon after, allowing ample time for wrapping and preparations, so gifts could be joyfully placed under trees across Colorado.

Denver7’s holiday initiative exemplifies the power of community collaboration and the profound impact individuals can make in the lives of local families during the festive season. Thanks to the generosity of donations and the steadfast commitment from Les Schwab, many children will now enjoy a brighter Christmas filled with hope and excitement.
