Colombian lawmaker Cathy Juvinao was caught vaping during a parliamentary meeting to discuss healthcare reforms. Juvinao, a member of the Green Alliance Party representing Bogota, was seen using a vape pen before quickly putting it away upon realizing she was on camera. She later apologized on social media for her actions and acknowledged that smoking and vaping are prohibited in government buildings in Colombia, including the parliamentary chambers. Earlier this year, legislation was signed into law by President Gustavo Petro to regulate the sale of electronic cigarettes and vaping devices in the country. Juvinao’s actions have sparked controversy and concern about the example she is setting for the public.
