Tragic Accident Claims Life of Hiker at Boulder Flatirons
Boulder, CO – A 42-year-old man tragically lost his life after a fall from the Second Flatiron near Boulder this week. The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an overdue hiker at approximately 9 p.m. on Monday. Friends of the man, who had set out for a hike earlier in the day, expressed concern as he had not returned by nightfall.
After failing to locate their friend, the group undertook their own search and ultimately discovered his body on a rock ledge on the Second Flatiron. Responding to the incident, various agencies including the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Boulder Parks and Open Space Rangers, Rocky Mountain Rescue group, American Medical Response, and Boulder Emergency Squad teamed up to recover the hiker’s remains.
As investigations are underway, the identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of the next of kin by the Boulder County Coroner’s Office.
