Additional Snowfall Expected in Colorado’s High Country on Tuesday

Winter Weather Advisory Issued as Colorado Receives New Snowfall

DENVER — A fresh winter storm is sweeping through Colorado’s high country this Tuesday morning, bringing snow and significant cloud cover across the region. Residents in the northern and central mountains can expect strong winds, leading to blowing and drifting snow on higher mountain passes. Preliminary forecasts indicate that elevations above 9,000 feet could receive between 5 to 10 inches of new snow. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Rabbit Ears Pass, effective until Tuesday night.

In contrast, the Denver metro area will experience partly to mostly cloudy conditions with milder temperatures. The eastern plains are expected to see highs in the low to mid-50s, though gusty winds may create a chill in the air. Overall, temperatures remain above average for this time of year, with highs peaking in the upper 50s on Wednesday and approaching the 60s from Thursday through the weekend. Typically, mid to late December sees highs around the low 40s, with nighttime temperatures plunging to the upper teens.

As the state adapts to these winter weather conditions, residents are reminded to stay cautious on the roads, particularly in the mountain areas affected by the advisory.
