Press Release: Multiple Arrests in Armed Home Invasion at Edge of Lowry Apartments
AURORA, Colo. — In the early hours of Tuesday morning, the Aurora Police Department apprehended 14 individuals for questioning related to an armed home invasion at the Edge of Lowry Apartments. The incident occurred shortly before 2:30 a.m. when several suspects forcibly entered an apartment, where two residents were present. The victims were restrained and relocated to another unit within the complex, where one man sustained a stab wound; fortunately, his injuries are not life-threatening.
After the suspects released the victims, they promptly alerted authorities by calling 911. Upon arrival, police detained the fourteen individuals for further investigation. A press conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday to update the public on developments in the case.
This incident is the latest in a series of controversies surrounding the Edge of Lowry Apartments, which has gained national attention following a viral video depicting armed individuals entering a unit in August. This incident preceded the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Oswaldo Jose Dabion Araujo at the complex later that month. In September, the Aurora Police Department declared both the Edge of Lowry and a neighboring complex “criminal nuisances,” citing safety concerns.
The property management company, CBZ Management, contends that gang activity has impeded repairs and maintenance at the complex. However, records indicate a long history of code violations predating the arrival of a sizable number of Venezuelan immigrants in the area.
Authorities announced an agreement to close the Edge of Lowry Apartments for safety and repair reasons, but specifics regarding timelines and resident relocation are still being determined. Residents will be given at least 30 days’ notice before any closures occur.
