Costco Poised to Bring Affordable Shopping to Castle Rock by 2027
Castle Rock, CO – Residents of Castle Rock can soon look forward to affordable bulk shopping options, as Costco Wholesale has received approval for a new warehouse in the town, expected to open in 2027. The location, part of the expansive Dawson Trails Planned Development, will occupy a 19.7-acre site along the future Dawson Trails Boulevard, just west of Interstate 25.
The plan includes the construction of a 160,000-square-foot Costco, which will feature a 16-pump fuel station and 886 parking spaces. The new store aims to create approximately 300 jobs and is committed to donating 1% of pretax profits to charity. As part of the larger Dawson Trails project, which will add over 5,800 new homes and 3.2 million square feet of commercial space, the Costco will serve as a key retail anchor in the area.
Castle Rock town council members approved the proposal following discussions about accessibility, traffic, and delivery operations, ensuring that safety measures for cyclists and pedestrians are incorporated into the design. Town officials emphasized the importance of creating a vibrant space that combines shopping, dining, and employment opportunities for residents and visitors.
With two existing Costco locations in Douglas County and two more in Colorado Springs, the new Castle Rock store will enhance the region’s accessibility to affordable goods. A potential Costco development is also in the works for nearby Littleton, which would complement a new commercial site on W. Mineral Avenue, slated to open in 2026.
As residents prepare for Costco’s arrival, they can anticipate the retailer’s signature low prices, including the beloved $1.50 hot dogs, further enriching the retail landscape of Castle Rock and surrounding areas.
