The Aurora high school, Smoky Hill High School, has been a breeding ground for talent over the years, according to counseling coordinator Bob Kennedy. Despite not receiving as much attention as other schools, Smoky Hill has produced notable individuals who have achieved success in sports, music, and entertainment. From Saturday Night Live star Bowen Yang to Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, the school has seen many of its graduates make a name for themselves.
Math teacher Adrian Holguin, who was Yang’s calculus teacher and director of the school’s comedy group, Spontaneous Combustion, also attests to Smoky Hill’s star power. He emphasizes the importance of fostering talent and authenticity in their students, encouraging them to pursue their dreams.
The school takes pride in its alumni’s accomplishments, such as Jenny Cavnar, who made history in MLB in 2024.
