Hamas released a video of Israeli-American hostage Edan Alexander pleading for President-elect Donald Trump to secure his release. Alexander was abducted during a Hamas attack in southern Israel in 2023. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized the video as cruel psychological warfare and assured Alexander’s family of ongoing efforts to bring him home. Around 101 hostages, including Alexander, are still held in Gaza, with half believed to be alive. Hamas leaders were expected in Cairo for ceasefire talks to discuss a possible deal for hostage release in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. The Hostages Families Forum called on both the Biden and Trump administrations to increase efforts to secure the hostages’ release, emphasizing the urgency of the situation. Washington recently announced a revival of efforts towards this goal. The hostages’ families are seeking support to ensure the safe return of their loved ones.
