Heritage and Hobby Lobby Officials Share Common Name

The claim that the owner of Hobby Lobby, David Green, is also the finance director of the Heritage Foundation is false. While David Green of Hobby Lobby is a supporter of conservative causes, he is not the same person as the David Green who works at the Heritage Foundation. The two men have different pictures, resumes, and basic biographical details that make it clear they are not the same person. David Green, the founder of Hobby Lobby, announced in 2022 that he no longer owns the company and has given away ownership to support ministries and other Christian causes. The social media post that made this false claim also linked the Heritage Foundation to Project 2025, which is accurate as the foundation organized over 100 conservative groups for this project. PolitiFact and Reuters also debunked the claim. Noah Weinrich, a spokesperson for the Heritage Foundation, confirmed that the Hobby Lobby CEO has never been an employee of the organization. The claim was reposted about 100 times in 18 days, but it is entirely misinformation. The post’s misinformation may have stemmed from the fact that both men have the same name, but they are not the same person.
