Thanksgiving Shopping Hours: What’s Open and Closed
As Thanksgiving approaches, AAA predicts a significant increase in vehicular traffic. Many retailers will close their doors on Thanksgiving Day, allowing employees a well-deserved break before the holiday shopping rush. However, essential services and some grocery chains will remain open to assist last-minute shoppers.
Notably, major retailers like Walmart, Costco, Kohl’s, and Target will be closed, making it necessary for customers to plan ahead. In contrast, several grocery chains will maintain limited hours. Central Market opens from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., while Food Lion operates from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. H-E-B will be open from 6 a.m. to noon, but its pharmacies will be closed. Hy-Vee stores will remain closed, though catered orders can be picked up until 11 a.m. Kroger’s hours will vary, so patrons are advised to confirm local store hours. Publix will also close all Southeast locations, while most Wegmans stores will be operating until 4 p.m.
In the convenience store sector, CVS may have select locations open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Dollar General stores are typically open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. However, Rite Aid stores will remain closed.
Fast-food options like Burger King will be available, whereas Chick-fil-A and Olive Garden will not serve customers on the holiday.
Overall, while many retail and grocery chains will remain closed, those in need of essentials can still find a limited number of stores to cater to their needs on Thanksgiving Day. Happy holidays!
