Press Release: Juvenile Arrested Following Smash-and-Grab at Vape Shop in Colorado Springs
Colorado Springs, CO – A juvenile has been arrested following a dramatic smash-and-grab incident at a vape shop in Colorado Springs early Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 3:40 a.m. at the Vape & Smoke Shop located on North Academy Boulevard when a stolen white Hyundai crashed through the front of the establishment, causing significant damage.
Local police arrived at the scene and discovered that two minors had reportedly entered the store after the crash, stealing various vape products. Following the theft, the suspects allegedly took off in a second stolen vehicle, a Kia Soul. However, quick investigative work by the police, utilizing the vehicle’s motor theft unit device, led them to the location of the stolen Kia, where one of the suspects was apprehended.
The juvenile arrested faces charges of motor vehicle theft and other outstanding warrants. Notably, this individual had previously been apprehended and released earlier this year for aggravated robbery. The second minor involved in the incident was released while authorities continue their investigation.
This recent arrest adds to the record of the first suspect, who has reportedly been arrested and released at least four times this year on charges that include aggravated robbery and motor vehicle theft.
Police continue to investigate the incident and are urging anyone with additional information to come forward. As the situation unfolds, authorities remain vigilant in addressing the rising trend of youth-related crimes in the area.
For further updates, residents are encouraged to follow local news outlets and the Colorado Springs Police Department’s official channels.
