Denver Kicks Off Holiday Shopping Season with Local Markets and Events

As the holiday shopping season begins post-Thanksgiving, Denver is gearing up for an exciting weekend filled with vibrant local markets and events in celebration of Small Business Saturday. This annual shopping day, established by American Express in 2010 to promote the importance of supporting small businesses, drew about $17 billion in U.S. consumer spending last year.

In Civic Center Park, the Denver Christkindlmarket welcomes visitors with over 40 vendors offering unique crafts and delicious food. On Small Business Saturday, attendees are encouraged to don traditional German attire, receiving special discounts on drinks like beer and gluhwein.

Cherry Creek’s Holiday Market makes its return for the fifth consecutive year, featuring around 50 rotating vendors until Christmas Eve. The market showcases local favorites including Bjorn’s Colorado Honey and Captain Crepes, operating daily from noon to 7 p.m.

In addition to these festivities, the Clayton Hotel Holiday Bazaar in Cherry Creek features 20 local businesses, includes a photo opportunity with Santa, and provides gift-wrapping services, all free of charge.

Orchard Town Center will also join in the fun, hosting a photo-op with the Grinch and showcasing its locally-owned businesses. Meanwhile, the Town Hall Collaborative will offer a “Sip and Shop” experience, enticing shoppers with drinks and discounts.

For those looking for diverse shopping options, the Dairy Block’s Mistletoe Market will feature a rotating selection of local vendors over the next few weekends, while the Horseshoe Market, known for its indie crafts, promises a festive atmosphere with over 100 vendors this weekend and next.

With a focus on community support and local entrepreneurship, Denver’s holiday markets offer a unique shopping experience, perfect for those seeking to find special gifts while helping local businesses thrive.
