On Thanksgiving Day, multiple House Democrats from Connecticut, including the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, were targeted with bomb threats at their homes. Fortunately, all members and their families are safe, and no bombs were found. The threats came the day after several Cabinet nominees of President-elect Donald Trump also received bomb threats.
Representative Jim Himes stated that he was notified of a bomb threat targeting his home where he was celebrating Thanksgiving. Despite a thorough search, no evidence of a bomb was found. He emphasized the need for political violence to have no place in the country and urged for continued peace and civility during the holiday season.
Representative Jahana Hayes also received a bomb threat via email, claiming a pipe bomb had been placed in her mailbox. However, no bomb or explosive materials were discovered, and law enforcement was notified. She expressed her gratitude for her loved ones on Thanksgiving and encouraged others to have a safe and happy holiday.
Additionally, Representative Joe Courtney received a bomb threat, but like the other incidents, no bomb was found. His spokesperson expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their response, sending a clear message that such threats will not be tolerated. Overall, the Democrats targeted in these incidents emphasized the importance of safety, gratitude, and peace during the Thanksgiving holiday.
