Denver Broncos receiver Josh Reynolds was involved in a shooting incident that left him and two companions injured. The incident occurred on Interstate 25 near Colorado Boulevard when individuals in another vehicle opened fire on them. Reynolds suffered minor arm and head wounds.
Two men, Luis Mendoza and Burr Charlesworth, are facing multiple charges including attempted murder, assault, and illegal discharge of a firearm in connection with the shooting. Mendoza remains in custody on a $300,000 cash-only bail, while Charlesworth was released after posting $100,000 bail.
Reynolds and his friends were followed by multiple vehicles after the shooting, and they called 911 after fleeing from their disabled vehicle. Reynolds has been on injured reserve due to a fractured finger and has missed several games as a result.
Surveillance video showed Mendoza’s vehicle following the victims, but Charlesworth claimed he was only “helping” a friend who had a prior conflict with the victims. He denied shooting at them and said the gunfire came from other vehicles.
Reynolds, 29, is currently in his eighth NFL season and has played for several teams before signing with the Broncos in March. He has 12 catches for 183 yards and a touchdown this season. Despite the incident, he remains focused on his recovery and future games with the team.
