Denver is gearing up for some spooky weather just in time for Halloween, as the city is expected to see its first snow of the season. The National Weather Service in Boulder is predicting mostly sunny skies with a high near 70 today, but things will take a turn overnight as a freeze watch goes into effect.
Before the cold front hits, residents can expect strong winds with gusts up to 55 mph in certain areas, prompting a red flag warning for parts of the region. Rain and mountain snow are expected, with snow accumulations above 10,000 feet. As the snow decreases in the mountains, a cold front will bring colder temperatures and a chance of snow showers just before sunrise.
Overnight, there is a chance of rain and snow, with little to no snow accumulation expected. The freeze watch will be in effect from Wednesday night to Thursday morning for several areas around Denver and its suburbs.
The 4-day forecast from the National Weather Service shows snow likely on Wednesday, with a high near 43, followed by sunny skies on Thursday with a high near 59. Friday and Saturday will also be sunny, with temperatures reaching the mid-60s.
As Denver braces for its first taste of winter weather, residents are advised to prepare for colder temperatures, snow showers, and potential road hazards. Stay safe and enjoy the spooky weather just in time for Halloween.
