Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner has filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk and his political action committee, America PAC, to stop them from giving away $1 million each day to a registered voter who signs their petition in swing states. The legal complaint alleges that this lottery is unlawful and violates Pennsylvania’s laws, including those regulating lotteries and consumer protection laws. The lawsuit accuses Musk of falsely claiming that winners are randomly selected, stating that some winners have shown up at Trump rallies in Pennsylvania. The U.S. Justice Department has also sent a warning letter to the PAC, stating that the giveaway could violate federal election law by paying people to register to vote. Despite this warning, Musk and the PAC continue to announce winners. Krasner is seeking a court order to stop Musk and the PAC from engaging in any unfair or deceptive acts in connection with their lottery. Musk and his PAC have not responded to requests for comment regarding the lawsuit.
