Trisha Calvarese, the Democrat challenging Republican U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District, made headlines by raising $570,000 in the first half of October. This surpasses Boebert’s fundraising efforts in the previous three months. Despite the district’s solidly Republican nature, Calvarese has raised a total of $3.75 million this cycle, compared to Boebert’s roughly $4.5 million. Calvarese’s campaign received over 31,800 contributions from 18,000 individual donors during this reporting period.
While experts predict a win for the GOP due to voter registration demographics and historical voting trends, Calvarese remains optimistic. Her campaign is relying on polling data showing a more competitive race for Boebert, who faced challenges after moving into the district earlier this year. The seat was previously held by Republican Ken Buck, who won by a 25-point margin in the last election.
Both campaigns have until midnight Thursday to file their pre-general election financial reports with the Federal Election Commission. Calvarese currently has about $250,000 cash on hand after spending $1.6 million during this period. The 4th Congressional District covers Douglas County and the Eastern Plains, making it a key battleground in the upcoming election. Stay tuned for more updates as the race between Calvarese and Boebert heats up.
