Haunted attractions in metro Denver have become increasingly popular, so the Denver Gazette sent three journalists to some of the area’s most well-known haunted houses: The Frightmare Compound in Westminster, The 13th Floor in Denver, and The Ritual in Englewood. Each journalist shared their personal experiences at these haunted houses.
Dennis Huspeni visited The Frightmare Compound with his daughter, Elese. They were impressed by the high-quality makeup, costumes, and props, as well as the immersive storytelling. The haunted house featured eerie sounds, water features, and realistic scenes, including a graveyard with real headstones. The experience ended with a walk through the Monster Museum, showcasing retired prop monsters.
Nicole Brambila braved The 13th Floor, one of the scariest haunted houses in the country. She found the props incredibly realistic and the scare actors unnervingly close. Despite her fear, she learned valuable lessons about how her reactions influenced her scare level.
Noah Festenstein explored The Ritual in Englewood, a haunted house centered around sacrifice and darkness. The experience evoked a unique rush of adrenaline and encouraged Festenstein to face his fears. The Ritual featured unique lighting, sounds, and homemade props, creating a truly immersive experience. Festenstein left feeling motivated to visit more scary attractions.
Overall, the journalists had diverse and personal experiences at these haunted houses, showcasing the variety of scares and thrills available in metro Denver during Halloween season.
