More than 635,000 Colorado voters have already returned their ballots for the upcoming Nov. 5 election, according to data released by state election officials. Democrats are currently leading in ballot returns, with unaffiliated voters also showing strong participation. The bulk of ballots have been returned by voters 55 and older, with more women than men turning in their ballots. This year’s ballot returns are about half of what was received at the same point in the 2020 election. While Democrats have returned more ballots, there are more active Democratic voters registered in Colorado than Republicans. Unaffiliated voters make up nearly half of registered voters but have a lower turnout rate compared to Democrats and Republicans.
Among Colorado counties, Jefferson leads in ballot returns, followed by El Paso, Arapahoe, Douglas, and Denver. The bulk of ballots have been returned by mail or drop boxes, with a small number opting to cast ballots in person. Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are facing off in the election, along with other races and ballot measures.
