Panthers switch up their starting QB before facing the Broncos

The Carolina Panthers are turning to former first overall pick Bryce Young to start at quarterback against the Denver Broncos, as veteran Andy Dalton suffered a sprained thumb in a car crash. Head coach Dave Canales confirmed the change and Dalton’s injury, stating that they will evaluate Dalton day to day to potentially have him as the backup on game day.

Young, who was benched after two starts in September, will now be back in the starting lineup. Dalton initially provided a spark for the Panthers, leading them to their only win of the season, but the team has since lost four straight games. Dalton has thrown for 989 yards, seven touchdowns, and six interceptions this season.

Despite the injury, Dalton is healthy enough to serve as the backup, with the most important thing being that he and his family are okay after the accident. The quarterback switch sets up a matchup between Young and Broncos rookie Bo Nix, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the game.

The incident has once again thrust Young into the starting role and puts pressure on him to perform against a tough Broncos defense. The Panthers will be looking to bounce back from a string of losses and secure a much-needed win with Young at the helm.
