Denver7, in partnership with Safeway, has launched the 2024 Holiday Helpings program to collect donations for families in need this holiday season. The program aims to provide $50 gift cards to families to help with food expenses during the holidays.
Taryn Cisneros, a recipient of gift cards last year, expressed how much of a difference the donations made for her family during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Living in a food desert, where fresh and affordable food is not easily accessible, Cisneros highlighted the impact of the gift cards in providing essential food for her family.
Volunteers of America, along with 80 other nonprofits, will help distribute the gift cards to families in need. Cisneros mentioned how the donations have not only helped with holiday meals but also with prenatal care, clothing for her children, and other necessities.
Donations for the Holiday Helpings program can be made by rounding up at Safeway checkout or choosing a specific amount to donate. The program runs through December 31, with the goal of raising funds to support families across Colorado. Last year, the program raised $1.4 million with the support of the community.
Denver7 is dedicated to making a difference in the community by supporting those in need and providing assistance during the holiday season. With the Holiday Helpings program, individuals have the opportunity to contribute to making a positive impact on families facing food insecurity in Colorado.
