Harvey Weinstein allegedly diagnosed with bone marrow cancer

Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has been diagnosed with bone marrow cancer, according to reports from various outlets including NBC News. Weinstein, 72, is said to have chronic myeloid leukemia and is undergoing treatment in Rikers Island while behind bars. This new health issue adds to a string of medical problems for Weinstein, who recently underwent emergency heart surgery and appeared frail in court. His spokesperson expressed dismay at the public speculation about Weinstein’s health, emphasizing the need for privacy.

Weinstein is currently serving a 16-year prison sentence after being convicted on rape charges in California and sentenced to 23 years in New York for rape and sexual assault. His convictions in New York were overturned on a technicality, leading to a potential retrial that has now been deemed unrealistic by prosecutors. Weinstein’s high-profile legal battles and allegations of sexual misconduct were instrumental in launching the #MeToo movement in 2017.

Weinstein, along with his brother Bob, founded Miramax Films in 1979 and produced successful movies like “Pulp Fiction” and “Shakespeare in Love,” which won an Oscar for best picture. More than 80 women, including well-known actresses like Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow, have accused Weinstein of harassment, assault, or rape. Weinstein has consistently maintained that any sexual encounters were consensual.
