The yearly charity golf tournament at Ute Creek Golf Course in Longmont, Colo., organized by the authentic restaurateurs of Santiago’s, has raised over $3 million for various nonprofits since 2004. This year, the event raised $450,000 for the Anchor Center for Blind Children. The tournament has become a success not only because of the efforts of the organizers but also because of the generous donations from customers and golfers who are considered family. Rachel and Shawn Wells, who have been instrumental in the event’s success, were honored as this week’s Everyday Heroes by Denver7 and West Shore Home. The Wells family expressed gratitude towards their supporters, acknowledging that the success of the tournament is attributed to them. The charity event has become a tradition that brings together the community for a good cause. Denver7 features an Everyday Hero each week and encourages nominations for heroes in everyday life.
