Colorado coach Deion Sanders responded to former President Barack Obama’s playful comments about the Buffaloes before their game against Arizona. Obama had joked about seeing Colorado’s football team at the airport and mentioned they only had a couple of good players, urging the crowd not to bet against the Wildcats. However, Colorado proved Obama wrong by defeating Arizona 34-7 at the Wildcats’ State Farm Stadium.
Sanders jokingly called out Obama for underestimating his team, stating that they have more than two good players. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders had an impressive game with 23-of-33 passing for 250 yards, two touchdowns, a rushing touchdown, and two interceptions. Star cornerback and wide receiver Travis Hunter also played a significant role in the victory after returning from a shoulder injury suffered in a previous game.
The win improved Colorado’s record to 5-2, while Arizona’s record dropped to 3-4. Last season, Arizona had defeated Colorado in a close game, but this year, the Buffaloes were able to secure a decisive victory. The outcome of the game proved that underestimating Colorado was a mistake, as they showed their strength and ability to perform on the field despite Obama’s light-hearted comments.
