Colorado is set to experience a drastic change in weather this weekend as summer-like temperatures make way for snow and rain, along with cooler autumn-like temperatures. A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the San Juan Mountains, with heavy snow accumulations of up to 2 feet possible above 9,000 feet. Travel in southwest Colorado is expected to be difficult as roads become slick and hazardous. Meanwhile, the Front Range, eastern plains, and Denver metro area will see rain showers and cooler temperatures on Friday and Saturday, with highs in the low 50s. The system is forecast to bring a cold and dreary day on Saturday, with lows in the mid-30s. While the first freeze is not expected in Denver, temperatures may come close to freezing. Snow accumulation in Denver remains unlikely. By Sunday, temperatures will begin to rebound with highs in the lower 60s, and precipitation clearing out of the state by the overnight hours. The start of the next workweek will bring sunny and mild conditions, with dry, sunny skies and highs in the lower to middle 70s.
