Michael Gonzales and his family have been through a heartbreaking ordeal following the death of his partner, Cristina Hernandez, a Denver Police Department crime lab employee, during childbirth in May. Left to raise their four boys on his own, Gonzales shared how their normal pregnancy took a tragic turn when Cristina was diagnosed with preeclampsia and experienced high blood pressure.
After Denver7 aired their story, viewers generously donated thousands of dollars to help the family. When Gonzales mentioned having car troubles and needing more space, Denver7 Gives stepped in with a surprising gift. With the $11,000 raised, Denver7 crews and Phil Long Ford of Denver gifted the family a 2017 Infinity QX80 SUV to help them get around easily, especially for their boys who are involved in sports.
Overwhelmed with gratitude, Gonzales expressed his thanks and appreciation, stating that the gift meant a lot and would alleviate some of the pain they’ve been going through. Denver7 Gives continues to feature stories of people in need and offers the community the opportunity to support them through donations. One hundred percent of contributions go towards helping individuals and families in the local community.
