The National Weather Service in Boulder has predicted that Thursday will start off sunny in metro Denver with temperatures reaching the 70s, but clouds will increase in the afternoon. Residents can expect windy conditions with gusts as high as 24 mph. There is also a slight chance of rain in the evening with temperatures dropping to around 50 degrees. The NWS has issued a Red Flag Warning for parts of the eastern plains due to very windy conditions that could lead to rapid fire spread.
Scattered showers are possible in higher elevations with light rainfall expected. Areas above 10,000 feet in elevation may experience light snow tonight. Rain showers are expected to continue through Sunday, with temperatures dropping significantly on Saturday. While it is not anticipated to snow in Denver, the foothills west of the city could see snow down to 7,000 feet.
The four-day forecast includes rain likely on Friday and a high of 62, with a chance of rain continuing into Saturday with a high of 50. Sunday will see a 40% chance of rain and a high near 62, followed by sunny skies on Monday with temperatures reaching 68. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor activities that could spark fires due to windy conditions.
