The Colorado Therapeutic Riding Center (CTRC) has faced challenges during the pandemic, affecting riders’ physical, mental, and emotional well-being. However, this weekend riders of all ages will be able to showcase their skills once again. As the oldest therapeutic riding center in Colorado, CTRC serves nearly 500 clients annually, helping them improve physical and mental health through horseback riding.
Executive Director Michele Bruhn highlights the benefits of horse therapy, such as core strength, balance, and improved posture. The impact of this therapy is evident in the growth and empowerment of clients, bringing joy to both riders and their families. For example, Emily Haines’ son Jaeden has shown immense progress in communication since starting therapy at CTRC.
Despite the challenges of the pandemic, the center is preparing for its annual horse show on October 19, where riders of all ages and skill levels will have the opportunity to shine. Fundraising efforts are underway to support the event, with Bruhn emphasizing the importance of community support in changing lives through therapeutic riding.
CTRC’s dedicated team and friendly horses are making a difference in the lives of those they serve, offering opportunities for individuals to get involved through financial support, volunteering, or seeking out their services. The nonprofit’s commitment to empowering individuals and creating positive change in the community is evident in their ongoing efforts to provide therapeutic riding opportunities.
