Former One Direction member Liam Payne tragically passed away at the age of 31 after falling to his death from a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Police responded to reports of an aggressive man possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and found Payne had thrown himself from the balcony of his room at the Casa Sur Hotel in Palermo.
Payne, who rose to fame as part of One Direction after auditioning for The X Factor in 2010, was in Buenos Aires to attend a concert by his former bandmate Niall Horan. Following the group’s success, Payne pursued a solo career, releasing the album LP1 in 2019 and a single titled Teardrops in March.
The talented singer is survived by his seven-year-old son, Bear Grey Payne, whom he had with musician Cheryl Cole. Payne had shared his excitement about horseback riding and playing polo in Argentina on social media just hours before his tragic death.
During their time together as a band, One Direction achieved immense success, with six top-10 hits on the Billboard charts, including iconic songs such as What Makes You Beautiful and Story of My Life. The group ultimately disbanded in 2016, with each member pursuing individual solo careers.
Details surrounding Liam Payne’s death remain under investigation as fans and loved ones mourn the loss of the talented singer and performer.
