Authorities in Riverside County, California arrested a man, identified as Vem Miller, near a campaign rally for former President Donald Trump with unregistered firearms. Sheriff Chad Bianco believed they may have prevented a third assassination attempt on Trump. Miller faces gun charges but denies trying to harm the former president, claiming to be an artist and a Trump supporter. The US Secret Service stated the incident did not pose a threat to Trump. This arrest comes after a prior incident in September where a man was charged with attempting to assassinate Trump at his Florida golf course. The suspect pleaded not guilty to the charges. This incident adds to concerns about security at Trump’s events, particularly following a shooting at a rally in Pennsylvania earlier in the year. The Secret Service admitted to failures in security planning and coordination with local police during that event. The investigation into Miller’s case is ongoing, and Trump’s campaign has not yet commented on the arrest. Miller has been released on bail and is scheduled to appear in court in early 2025.
