Aurora breast cancer survivor initiates nonprofit to support community

Jackie Wesley, a breast cancer survivor from Aurora, Colorado, is using her experience to make a difference in the lives of others facing the disease. Despite being a 21-year survivor, Wesley still maintains a positive outlook and credits her faith for helping her through the tough times. In addition to her personal journey, Wesley also founded a nonprofit organization called Fighting Together to Save Lives in 2006, aiming to provide support, resources, and assistance to individuals dealing with breast cancer.

Through her nonprofit, Wesley offers help with rent, groceries, utility bills, transportation to medical appointments, and more. While supporting both men and women facing breast cancer, the organization places a strong emphasis on education and regular exams for early detection. Wesley stresses the importance of annual mammograms and self-examinations, particularly for BIPOC individuals who may be less fortunate and have limited access to healthcare.

As Breast Cancer Awareness Month is observed, Wesley remains dedicated to aiding those affected by breast cancer at every stage of their journey. Her organization focuses on providing support to marginalized communities and ensuring that everyone has access to the resources they need. Wesley’s story serves as an inspiration and a reminder of the importance of support, education, and early detection in the fight against breast cancer.
