Former social worker admits to making false cancer claim and pleads guilty | Aurora

Former social worker, Robin Niceta, pleaded guilty to multiple charges including attempting to influence a public servant, forgery, and criminal impersonation. Niceta’s deceitful actions involved falsely accusing Aurora Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky of abusing her son, leading to an investigation. Niceta claimed she had terminal cancer to delay her trial, but it was later revealed that she had fabricated medical records. She was arrested in New Mexico and extradited back to Colorado for trial. In a separate case, Niceta was found guilty of filing a false child abuse report and received a 4-year sentence. Jurinsky sued Arapahoe County and Niceta for violating her rights, but a federal court ruled in favor of the defendants. Chief Deputy DA Chris Gallo commended the Sheriff’s Office for uncovering Niceta’s deception and emphasized the need for accountability. District Attorney John Kellner condemned Niceta’s actions as malicious and vindictive, calling for additional time in the Department of Corrections. Niceta’s sentencing is scheduled for January 17, 2025. The case highlights the lengths some individuals will go to in order to avoid facing consequences for their actions.
