City workers from New York charged in a gang assault on former Governor David Paterson

Police in New York City confirmed two more arrests in connection to a reported gang attack on former Governor David Paterson and his stepson. Two city employees, Travor Nurse and Diamond Minter from the NYC Housing Authority, were charged with gang assault for the attack that took place on the Upper East Side. The former governor and his son were walking their dog when they were involved in a verbal altercation with five suspects who proceeded to physically assault them. Paterson suffered injuries to the face and head, while his son had facial injuries. Both were treated at the hospital and released the next day. The suspects, including two young boys previously arrested, turned themselves in to the police with their parents. Paterson served as the 55th governor of New York, becoming the first Black person to hold the position after taking over from Eliot Spitzer in 2008. The investigation into the attack is ongoing, and the exact details of the defendants’ employment and legal representation were not immediately available.
