Airman confesses to attempting to hire hitman on RentAHitman.com

An Air National Guardsman from Toledo, Josiah Ernesto Garcia, submitted his resume to a joking website called www.rentahitman.com through which he offered his services as a hitman, hoping to start a career as a murder-for-hire professional. Unbeknownst to him, the website and the supposed company looking for hitmen were fake, and the FBI became involved, with an undercover agent meeting with Garcia and paying him $2,500 to kill a non-existent target. Garcia was arrested and now faces up to 10 years in federal prison for using interstate commerce facilities in the commission of murder-for-hire.

Garcia had claimed to be an expert marksman with military experience, and he described himself as the “Reaper” on his resume. Despite being warned by the undercover agent multiple times, Garcia expressed willingness to follow through on the job. The website www.rentahitman.com was originally created as an advertisement for a cyber security startup company but later became a parody site for murder-for-hire services. Over the years, several individuals, like Garcia, have been caught attempting to hire hitmen through this website, leading to arrests and convictions.

In the case of Garcia, he was ultimately arrested after receiving $2,500 in cash for the murder he was willing to commit. The administrator of the website, known as Guido, highlighted the danger of individuals making such requests and emphasized the importance of exposing these risks to the public. Garcia’s case serves as a cautionary tale against attempting to hire hitmen through fake websites.
