Vail Resorts has announced a two-year plan to transform the company for future growth and global expansion, including laying off 14% of its corporate workforce. The plan aims to improve organizational effectiveness and scale for operating leverage, with expected annualized cost efficiencies of $100 million by 2026. The plan includes scaled operations, global shared services, and expanded workforce management. Impacted employees will have the opportunity to apply for open roles across the company. Vail Resorts CEO Kirsten Lynch emphasized the company’s commitment to creating an “Experience of a Lifetime” for employees and guests. The company’s recent expansion from 10 to 42 mountain resorts across four countries provides opportunities for capturing acquisition synergies and introducing new tools to scale operations. Vail Resorts also plans to consolidate and outsource internal business services into global shared services to support North American businesses and future global expansion. The implementation of Workforce Management technology aims to provide frontline managers with tools and data insights to allocate talent based on guest experience and demand. The Transformation Plan will expand Workforce Management by leveraging best practices and adding new functionality.
