The Denver Broncos were forced to move their final practice at The Greenbrier inside to a tennis club due to inclement weather from Hurricane Helene. Despite the change of location, head coach Sean Payton welcomed the challenge, stating that it kept the team on its toes. Wide receiver Josh Reynolds commented on the unique experience of practicing on a tennis court but praised the team for keeping the schedule similar to what they would have had outdoors.
The team will travel to New Jersey for final preparations before their game against the New York Jets on Sunday. Payton emphasized the importance of maintaining consistency throughout the week to adjust to the time zone change.
Inside linebacker Cody Barton will take over play-calling duties for the defense in the absence of Alex Singleton, who is out for the season with a torn ACL. Barton expressed confidence in his ability to call plays and noted his familiarity with the defensive system.
Reynolds, who has been dealing with an Achilles issue, stated that he is managing the injury and it has been solid overall. Reserve safety JL Skinner has been ruled out of Sunday’s game due to an ankle injury.
The team is looking forward to their upcoming game against the Jets, with Payton thanking West Virginia Governor Jim Justice and The Greenbrier for their hospitality during their stay. Fans can sign up for the Broncos Insider to receive more news and analysis about the team.
