Cards Against Humanity, known for their adult party game, has sued Elon Musk’s SpaceX for $15 million over alleged trespassing and damage to land near the U.S.-Mexico border. The lawsuit claims that SpaceX employees removed vegetation and placed gravel on the land, which was purchased by Cards Against Humanity in 2017 to prevent Trump’s border wall. Over 150,000 donors contributed to the purchase of the land as part of a campaign called “Cards Against Humanity Saves America.”
The company accused SpaceX of treating the property as its own for at least six months without regard for safety or property rights. Cards Against Humanity plans to split any proceeds from the lawsuit with the donors who helped purchase the land. They created a website to provide more information on the lawsuit and shared photos of the land before and after the alleged damage by SpaceX.
SpaceX has not responded to requests for comment on the lawsuit. Cards Against Humanity described Musk’s actions as defiling their once-verdant land where wild horses roamed, and expressed hope that the lawsuit will provide some compensation for the donors who supported their cause. The outcome of the lawsuit will determine whether Cards Against Humanity and its donors are able to recoup damages from the alleged trespassing and destruction of their land by SpaceX.
