Vice President Kamala Harris has accepted CNN’s invitation to a second presidential debate against former President Donald Trump on October 23, right before Election Day. While Harris has confirmed her participation, Trump has not yet accepted the invitation. Harris expressed hope that Trump would join her on the debate stage. The format and setup of the CNN debate would be similar to the one Trump attended in June, where he praised CNN’s moderators, rules, and ratings. Trump has claimed that he won the previous debate against Harris and initially stated that he would not debate her again. However, he has indicated that he may reconsider if he is in the right mood. The upcoming debate would follow the same format used in a previous debate between President Joe Biden and Trump. Biden’s poor debate performance in that event led him to drop out of the 2024 race and endorse Harris. The first debate between Harris and Trump was hosted by ABC News in Philadelphia, where they clashed over issues such as abortion, immigration, and the economy.
