Covered Colorado, an organization dedicated to supporting human trafficking survivors in Colorado, is planning to open a crisis house in March 2025 to provide immediate shelter for survivors who have recently left trafficking situations. With a significant increase in crisis numbers over the past year, the organization recognized the urgent need for more housing options for survivors. The crisis house will accommodate up to eight survivors at a time for a maximum of 30 days, offering essential support such as food and clothing while helping them transition into other programs.
According to a government study, there is a shortage of housing options for trafficking survivors, which can result in re-victimization. Covered Colorado’s crisis house aims to bridge this gap and become the only dedicated housing facility for trafficking survivors in the state. The organization also ensures the location of the house remains hidden to protect the privacy and safety of the survivors.
As they prepare to open the crisis house, Covered Colorado is raising funds for a passenger van to facilitate transportation between residences for the survivors. The organization is committed to creating a welcoming and safe environment for survivors and encourages those in need of assistance to reach out. The community can show support for Covered Colorado’s efforts through donations and by contacting the Colorado Human Trafficking Hotline for help or information.
