CU Buffs coach Deion Sanders is considering the return of transfer Dallan Hayden for the upcoming game against Baylor this weekend at Folsom Field. Sanders mentioned during a press conference that Hayden’s status remains unknown and it’s uncertain if he will be able to play. The coach commended the team’s depth at tailback after a solid performance by Micah Welch, Isaiah August, and Charlie Offerdahl in the win over Colorado State.
The Buffs showcased their best rushing output of the season with a total of 109 yards against the Rams. This marks their highest rushing yardage since 2023. However, Sanders also addressed injury concerns with defensive tackle Chidozie Nwankwo’s availability in question for the game against Baylor. Additionally, Taurean Carter II, a grad transfer from Arkansas, is recovering from surgery and will be sidelined for the foreseeable future.
Nwankwo had contributed three tackles and a sack in two games this season, while Carter was part of the defensive tackle rotation against North Dakota State. Sanders emphasized the team’s need to adapt to these injuries and rely on the depth of the roster to maintain a competitive edge. As the Buffs prepare for their Homecoming game against Baylor, the status of key players like Hayden and Nwankwo will be closely monitored to determine their availability for the upcoming matchup.
