Timeline of Important Events in the Russia-Ukraine Conflict on Day 934 | Latest News on Russia-Ukraine War

As the war in Ukraine entered its 934th day, the situation on Monday, September 16, 2024, was grim. Russian-guided bombs struck a multistorey apartment building in Kharkiv, killing at least one person and injuring 42, including three children. Russian shelling in Pokrovsk resulted in another death, with the city already cut off from water and electricity due to recent strikes.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed frustration with the slow arrival of Western arms, stating that Ukrainian forces were suffering high losses in the east. Ukrainian air defence units managed to destroy several drones launched by Russia, including missiles targeting Odesa, with a guided air missile successfully intercepted.

Russia claimed to have destroyed 29 Ukrainian drones targeting Russian regions, with 15 of them brought down in the Bryansk region. In terms of politics and diplomacy, US National Security adviser Jake Sullivan pledged support for Ukraine, stating President Biden would work to ensure Ukraine’s success against Russia during his term.

Zelenskyy renewed his call for Western allies to allow Ukraine to strike military targets deep inside Russia to counter Russian aggression. Meanwhile, the UK Foreign Secretary criticized Russian President Putin’s warnings about NATO involvement in a potential conflict.

The situation on the ground is dire, with increased Russian production of guided bombs and shipments of artillery ammunition from North Korea exacerbating the challenges faced by Ukrainian forces. As the conflict rages on, the international community continues to monitor the situation closely and provide support to Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.
