LOS ANGELES (AP) — The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards are back in their traditional mid-September spot, set to air live on ABC from the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles. Hosted by Eugene and Dan Levy of “Schitt’s Creek,” the evening promises to be an epic night filled with anticipation for winners like “Shogun,” “The Bear,” and “Baby Reindeer.”
“Shogun” has already set a record for most wins for a single season of a series with 14 wins at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. Predicted to sweep the top categories on Sunday night, the FX series has shifted from a limited series to the drama category and could face competition from “The Crown” in the best drama category.
In the comedy landscape, FX also looks set for success with “The Bear” accumulating nominations for best comedy series and various acting categories. Jeremy Allen White, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Ayo Edebiri are among the nominees, with Meryl Streep also vying for a win in the best supporting actress in a comedy category for “Only Murders in the Building.”
In the limited series categories, Jodie Foster and Kali Reis are top contenders for their performances in “True Detective: Night Country.” However, the popular pick for best limited series is Netflix’s “Baby Reindeer,” with Richard Gadd and Jessica Gunning also in the running for their roles in the series.
