Previously, the restaurant used a lottery system to allocate reservations, but now they have switched to a first-come, first-served system on their website.
Priority reservations were given to Founders Club members, those who subscribed to the restaurant’s newsletter within the last year, before the slots opened up to the public. Despite the high demand, many hopeful diners were left disappointed as reservations quickly sold out.
Owned by “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, Casa Bonita has faced criticism for their handling of the soft reopening in June 2023, with some employees describing it as a “masterclass in how not to open a restaurant.” The duo purchased the restaurant in 2021 to save it from permanent closure due to the pandemic.
